How This Site Works

A few things that trip people up, answered in one place.

Picks save automatically

There's no Submit button on the Picks page. Every team you pick, every confidence number you assign, and your tiebreaker guess are saved the instant you make them — you can close the tab or lose signal mid-game-day and nothing is lost.

Feeling Lucky

The “Feeling Lucky” button on the Picks page randomly fills in whatever you haven't picked yet — teams and confidence numbers both. It only touches games you haven't already made a choice on, so it's safe to use partway through if you just want to finish the rest at random.

Collapsing the progress card

The card at the top of the Picks page that tracks how many games you've picked can get in the way while you're scrolling through a long list of games. Tap the small arrow on it to collapse it down to just the headline, and tap it again to bring it back.

When picks lock

Each week shows exactly when its picks close. Once that time passes, your picks for that week are final and visible to everyone in Weekly Results. If you miss the deadline, ask the commissioner — they can grant you temporary access to finish up even after the normal lock, and you'll see “Temporary access until” on the Picks page while that window is open.

Reminder emails

As a week's lock time gets close, you'll get an automatic email if you still have picks left to make — whether you haven't started at all or just have a few games left to finish. No need to keep checking back just to make sure you're on track.

If you don't finish in time

If you started your picks for a week but didn't finish before it locked, the site fills in whatever's left — games, confidence points, and your tiebreaker guess — at random, instead of the rest of the week scoring as a loss. You'll get an email if this happens to you, and anything filled in this way shows a small 🎲 on Weekly Results so you can tell it apart from what you actually picked. This only applies if you'd made at least one pick — if you never touch a week's picks at all, nothing gets filled in on your behalf.

Live scores

Once games kick off, Weekly Results updates on its own as scores come in — no need to keep refreshing the page.

Winning Combos

Next to your name on Weekly Results is a count of how many ways the week's still-open games could finish that would leave you in the money. It updates as games get decided, and once it hits zero for a still-open week, you're mathematically eliminated for that week even though not everything is final yet.

Must hit / must miss

Once your Winning Combos count is still alive but getting narrow, Weekly Results will outline one of your still-open picks to flag that it's pivotal — either every remaining path to the money needs that pick to hit, or every one needs it to miss. It only shows up once the math actually says so, so treat it as a heads-up on what to watch, not a guess.

What If? simulator

While a week is still being decided, the “What if?” button on Weekly Results lets you pick a hypothetical winner for any game that hasn't finished yet, and see how the standings would shift for everyone in the pool. Nothing you set there is saved — it's just for exploring possibilities.

Your time zone

Game times and lock times are shown in whatever time zone you set on your profile page, so you don't have to do the math yourself if you're not on the pool's home time zone.
